Allison Bennett
The 1st Athlete of Month for 2012 is Ally B…great work Ally!!
I have been with BCF for almost 2 years, I have to admit, I was very intimidated by the whole crossfit thing at first, I have never considered myself an athlete and I don’t really possess that competitive drive. I joined simply because I was getting bored doing the elliptical, and because of that, I wasn’t going to the gym as often as I should, and Erik loved it, so I thought, why not. I enjoyed the variety of the wods, and was exposed to things I had never done before, like using weights, what hooked me though was the community, I instantly fell in love with the BCF family. While I have gotten stronger and faster, (still slow, but not as slow) I think my biggest gains have been in my self esteem, which I hadn’t realized was a an issue. I was always being pushed physically and mentally, but my stubbornness prevailed and I had managed to keep up a “wall” and avoided what was holding me back. Thank you Mike and Christine for calling me out on it, since that tearful evening a few months ago, I have rx’d my first wod, Nancy, I moved to the 24 inch box, have had 20 lb gains in my snatch, 25lb gains in my jerk, and 33lb gains in my clean. I am so thankful for having BCF in my life, Mike and Christine have done an amazing job, the other trainers and each and every member have formed such a wonderful community, I am honored to be a part of it.
